Warwick Machine Tools joins influential regional cluster

mim1Warwick Machine Tools has recently joined the other leading engineering and manufacturing companies that make up the membership of the influential Made in the Midlands cluster. Made in the Midlands (MIM) supports and promotes the interests of the manufacturing and engineering community in the Midlands – the birthplace of the industrial revolution. The organisation was set up to further the privately owned firms in this geographic footprint by championing their successes, facilitating contact with peers and signposting available help and support where needed.

WMT’s Managing Director, Ian Holbeche, says: “Regional manufacturing and engineering is at threat from competition in low cost economies and from firms in expanding markets overseas. To survive companies must work together to compete as a collective on value and quality for customers. Made in the Midlands emphasises and encourages the importance of continual investment in the latest technology, such as the advanced die sink and wire cut EDM machine solutions we provide, to highlight the superiority of Midlands companies over foreign competitors.”

MIM also helps Midlands firms to compete with overseas firms on price by implementing necessary structures and procedures to make their businesses more efficient and promoting knowledge transfer from successful companies that have already made this transition.

It facilitates these goals by linking companies together online, face-to-face and in national and regional media. “While most businesses are aware of the threat of global competition, not all are familiar with the advances made by the leading machine tool suppliers. We are looking forward to presenting the advantages of Excetek and ONA EDM machine tools to the other members, highlighting the potential efficiency gains and cost savings available from using the very latest manufacturing technologies provided by these machines.”

Made in the Midlands currently represents around 265 companies, with a combined turnover in excess of £1.8 billion.
